Global Perspectives on Dancer Career Development 2025

Star Star

The Dancer Transition Resource Centre (DTRC) proudly hosted the annual meeting of the International Organization for the Transition of Professional Dancers (IOTPD), focused on global collaboration and career advocacy for dancers. The gathering was held October 22–24, 2025, coincided with the DTRC’s 40th anniversary and brought together visiting delegates for a series of hybrid meetings focused on career development, transition support, and long-term career sustainability for professional dancers.

Since its founding in 1993, the IOTPD has championed the unique needs of dancers navigating career transitions. In 2004, representatives from 15 countries signed the Declaration of Monaco, committing to coordinated action in support of dancer career development. Today, IOTPD members continue to meet regularly to share insights, challenges, and best practices, maintaining solidarity in their mission to support dancers across diverse forms, practices, and lived experiences. In Fall 2025, Toronto became the host city for this vital work.

The closed meetings culminated in a public panel discussion (recorded video above) hosted by the DTRC in association with Fall for Dance North, offering the public a chance to engage with global leaders in dancer transition and advocacy.
