Study and Subsistence Grants

Grants & Awards Overview

  1. The DTRC offers individualized stewardship for all grant applications. Please contact membership@dtrc.ca.
  2. Applications for Skills Grants and Career Exploration Grants are accepted on a rolling basis. Grant applications must be submitted at least 4 weeks in advance of the course/training/study start date to be considered. 
  3. Applications for Study Grants and Subsistence Grants: Parallel and Post-Performance Pathway are accepted three times per year: Oct. 1, Feb. 1 and June 1. Grant applications must be submitted by 11:59pm according to the email timestamp on the deadline day to be considered. 
  4. If a member has completed a full Subsistence Grant: Post-Performance Pathway, they may be eligible to apply for discretionary special awards for subsequent years of study. 
  5. Please submit your application by the deadline noted. Late and/or incomplete applications will not be accepted. Provided eligibility is maintained, the member may apply again at the next deadline.

To offset a portion of your basic living expenses while in full-time studies. There are 2 options for this grant: Parallel Pathway and PostPerformance Pathway.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Fully paid member in good standing for at least 5 consecutive years, no gaps
  • A minimum of 6 years of professional performance, 4 of which were spent in Canada and at least 28 years of age

    OR

  • A minimum of 8 years of professional performance, 4 of which were spent in Canada and no age restriction.
  • Must have danced a minimum of 36 months during the 6-year minimum period.

Have I undertaken adequate research, reflection and/or counselling to clarify my career plan and deepen my understanding of this choice?(Required)
Have I applied to my school/program or discussed/confirmed a training plan with my mentor?(Required)
Have I researched the full cost of my chosen program of study, required course materials, and any travel involved?(Required)
Have I considered how I will cover my living expenses while I’m studying?(Required)
Do I have a clear future vision for my career, an end goal for this program of study, or a starting point for the next chapter?(Required)
