Janelle Hacault is a Filipinx/French Canadian professional contemporary dance artist, teacher, actor, and embodiment coach based in Montréal, QC. Janelle has performed onstage in Annie: la comédie musicale (Just for Laughs) and Rhapsodie (Sylvain Émard Danse/DanseDanse), on film (Virginie Brunelle, Angèle Dubeau, Céline Dion, Trip the Light Fantastic), and on television (Chanteurs Masqués, Révolution season 3). She is currently performing across the ocean with Virgin Voyages.

JANELLE’S STORY

DTRC has been an incredible support in my career especially when I moved across Canada for my career. The transition between living in Winnipeg, with my childhood friends and family around, to Montréal where I hardly knew anyone and had no contract to keep me afloat, was a difficult time. Thanks to the counselling program through DTRC, I had a therapist to help face life’s challenges. In 2024, I was invited to be a guest speaker for DTRC’s Industry Connect! event in Montréal. It was a rewarding experience to give back to the community of artists I care so much about. I had the opportunity to sit with fellow professionals whom I respect and share with the larger community what it means to be a resilient artist.

DTRC is an accessible and self-sustaining ecosystem where you can both receive and give precious resources necessary to make a career in the arts and beyond possible. Through the counselling program, coaching program, and being a guest speaker, I have received the support needed to be an artist, and had the opportunity to give back to my community. I am confident about what lies ahead because of the assistance DTRC continues to provide to me. 

Thanks to the counselling program, I was able to handle moving from my home to Montréal and advance my career. I was also able to get coaching for my online embodiment coaching practice and share my experience with the dance community through Industry Connect! as a guest speaker. These services made moving for dance more bearable, it made me realize what owning my own business entails, and connected me to up-and-coming dance artists looking for guidance. Thanks to DTRC, I can say I am an established artist in the dance milieu.
