JULIE’S STORY
“I worked as a professional dancer and circus artist for over twenty years. The support of the DTRC allowed me to make a gradual transition into the health field. Alongside my dance career, I first had the opportunity to take several courses in the United States and Montreal to deepen my knowledge of somatic education, before going on to obtain certification in biodynamic craniosacral therapy. Still passionate about movement and the human body, these explorations allowed me to continue my transition to osteopathy studies, and I graduated in 2022. My thesis focused on the effects of stress on dancers and its influence on injuries. I now work as an osteopath with a multidisciplinary team in New Brunswick.
The financial assistance and advice I received from the DTRC allowed me to make a healthy career transition from dance to osteopathy while continuing my career as a dancer. I am grateful to the DTRC for this essential support, which has allowed me to fulfill my potential. Thanks to osteopathy, I continue to share my kinesthetic experience gained through dance by working with the human body in motion, via a dialogue through touch with patients.”
