Kristian Clarke steps down as Executive Director of The Dancer Transition Resource Centre
On behalf of the Board of Directors of the Dancer Transition Resource Centre, Chair Patricia Fraser announces that Kristian Clarke will be stepping down as Executive Director of the organization.
During his tenure as Executive Director, Kristian Clarke oversaw the development and growth of this national organization leading it with a combination of long-range vision and integrity; passionately committed to the support of dancers from diverse backgrounds, dance forms and practices, both at home and abroad. Kristian enhanced the DTRC’s long-standing reputation as a caring and collaborative organization and his support for Indigenous, Black and People of Colour communities has been a crucially important area of focus. We are most especially thankful for Kristian’s steady hand in steering the organization through COVID-19; particularly his leadership in improving digital capacity and the successful roll out of a $500,000 pandemic support project which provided significant financial and programming assistance to member and non-member professional dancers from across Canada.
Kristian has helped to forge strong relationships with DTRC’s passionate community of donors. The next DTRC Executive Director will inherit a healthy organization and have the opportunity to ensure it remains relevant in the rapidly changing Canadian dance environment. Through counselling, career development, education, and grants to re-train for a parallel or second career, the DTRC supports the complete career cycle of the professional dancer. The DTRC looks forward to its 40th anniversary in 2025 as we continue to fulfil our mission to serve professional Canadian dancers.
In a recent statement Kristian has commented, “The DTRC’s work is as vital as ever and the legacy that has been created will embolden the next leader to build on that foundation, expanding support to professional dancers across Canada.”
We are deeply grateful to Kristian for both his contribution to the management of the organization, and for his support of the members we serve. We are sorry to see Kristian leave the DTRC but wish him well as he moves on to new challenges and adventures.
The Board of Directors has initiated a process to recruit the next Executive Director and invites interested candidates to check the website dtrc.ca where information will be posted when it becomes available.
The new Executive Director will be supported through a transition period over the next months.
