The Dance Transition Resource Centre extends warm felt congratulations to our long-time Patron, Mrs. Jocelyn Terell Allen on the recent launch of her book titled, “Early Days, Early Dancers”.
Our team had the pleasure of hosting the evening, alongside a secondary presentation by Amy Bowring, Executive and Curatorial Director, Dance Collection Danse. The evening, filled with ballet stories from the 50s also included heartfelt memories shared by some of the following special guests:
Jocelyn shares, “I wrote Early Days, Early Dancers because I saw a difference in publicity between the dancers of the 50s, and the luminaries that were to follow in the decades after…But the 50s were my era, and I got to see the wonderful principal dancers of this time up close. I wanted to write about them and record as much as I could. Their influence in the shaping of dance, and dance education in Canada is deep, and sometimes difficult to see.”
