[en anglais] As of Tuesday, January 24th, our BC Program Officer Andrea Gunnlaugson will be away from the office for 5-6 months as she recovers from knee surgery. In her absence, Zaena Campbell will be filling in for her at the BC Office. We would like to welcome Zaena and wish Andrea a smooth and speedy recovery!
I’m thrilled to be joining the DTRC community as BC Program Officer while Andrea Gunnlaugson is on leave. From my earliest ballet days to flamenco, lindy hop and contemporary arts theory, dance continues to be a constant source of joy, catharsis, insight and inspiration for me. 2011 a été une année extraordinaire pour le CRTD. Point culminant de notre 25e anniversaire : la tenue de deux galas extraordinaires à Toronto et Vancouver, occasions de célébrer la vitalité de notre communauté de la danse et de collecter des fonds indispensables au fonctionnement de notre organisme. 2011 a également vu la création de notre livre souvenir 25 Transitions, un recueil de récits captivants écrits par des membres et des alumni à diverses étapes de leur carrière. C’est le moment idéal pour vous inspirer des histoires étonnantes de nos membres, en allant vérifier chaque semaine sur notre site Internet la publication d’un nouveau récit tiré de notre livre souvenir – vous les trouverez sûrement aussi profonds que nous à leur lecture.

[en Anglais] On June 1st, Margie Gillis, one of Canada’s most esteemed dance artists, and a recent recipient of the Governor General’s Performing Arts Award, was invited to appear on the Sun News Network to talk about funding for the arts.
Margie is to be commended for her grace and poise during this bullying interview, which not only asked her to justify herself and her worth as an artist, but also attacked the value of artists and the arts in general. At the heart of the interview was the question: why should ordinary Canadians care about the arts?
