Andrea trained professionally with the Royal Winnipeg Ballet School and graduated Winnipeg’s School of Contemporary Dancers before moving to Vancouver in 1993. Over the course of a 20 year professional career, she has had the honor of working with some of the most prominent British Columbia choreographers and dance companies. Andrea has garnered much respect, both locally and abroad, as a performing artist, a teacher, an adjudicator and rehearsal director.
Andrea is also a dedicated and enthusiastic arts administrator. She was appointed Program Officer of the Dancer Transition Resource Centre in 2004, running the BC branch of this amazing national organization. Not only does she work for the DTRC, she is proudly a member of the DTRC, CADA BC and the CDA among other dance societies. Andrea is a founding member of Made in BC-Dance on Tour, CADA BC, and ‘the 605 Collective’. She currently sits on the Actsafe Arts Advisory Committee and regularly volunteers for various non-profit and artistic events.
Starting in 2008, Andrea initiated the bi-annual “The Legacy Repertory Project”, which aims to fulfill a relatively ignored gap in the British Columbia Professional Dance Community by remounting prominent retired contemporary dance works on young companies and emerging dancers; commemorating the rich history of our community.
In 2009 Andrea officially retired from the performing world of Dance and returned to school to study and graduate with honors in Massage with much assistance from the DTRC through a FTS-1 grant. She returned part-time to her post at the DTRC and has established her own home business and practice in Massage and Birth Doula services - Doulandie Nurturing Touch.
